A Quick Overview of the Project

40 MW Natural Gas Burner for High-Temperature Direct Drying

In collaboration with FCT Combustion Inc., Carbotechnik supplied and commissioned a 40 MW natural gas burner for an industrial customer in the United States. The burner generates hot gas at temperatures of up to 1,650°C, which the customer uses for direct drying.

Air-cooled burner design for fast response times

The project required a burner that could meet demanding temperature and response-time requirements. To achieve this, Carbotechnik developed a special burner design featuring an air-cooled steel structure without a firebrick lining.

This design offers several advantages. In particular, the absence of a firebrick lining allows the burner to respond quickly to changes in the required heating output. As a result, the system can adjust its thermal output rapidly and precisely to the drying process.

Compact design with integrated air staging

Another key feature of the Carbotechnik burner is its compact design with integrated air staging. The staged combustion process helps control emissions effectively while maintaining stable and reliable operation.

Consequently, the burner consistently meets the customer’s demanding emission limits. At the same time, its compact construction provides a space-efficient solution for high-temperature direct drying applications.

With its 40 MW output, hot gas temperatures of up to 1,650°C, fast response times, and low-emission combustion technology, the Carbotechnik burner provides a reliable and efficient solution for demanding industrial drying processes.
