Carbotechnik hot gas generator for colored sand

The Dorfner company in Hirschau recently commissioned a state-of-the-art hot gas generator for the highly efficient production of colored sands. First of all, the operators of the newly constructed plant color high-quality quartz sands of various grain sizes. To achieve this, the plant operators feed the raw sand directly into a specialized fluidized bed reactor. Consequently, air supplied from below stirs up the sand. At the same time, a precise nozzle system sprays the necessary pigments and binders onto the floating material. Afterward, a critical heating phase permanently coats the sand. Indeed, for process-related reasons, the system requires a completely delay-free supply from the hot gas generator. Finally, after a cooling phase, the machine discharges the finished material, and the automated process repeats.

Regarding the technology, Carbotechnik supplied the entire hot gas generator system, including the advanced control system, for this modern facility. Moreover, the engineering team easily implemented the connection to the new process control system via a smart data interface. As a result, this modern setup provides the customer with direct, real-time access to all process-relevant values and crucial operational messages.

Since the complete system is a brand-new prototype, the engineers naturally expect minor adjustments over time.
