Precise Fuel Dosing for the QualiCal GGR Lime Shaft Kiln in Štramberk

QualiCal built a new GGR lime shaft kiln for the Kotouč Štramberk lime plant in the Czech Republic. As a member of the international QUALIPOOL partner network, Carbotechnik was responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of the dosing machine. This project marks the eleventh dosing machine that we have supplied for a QualiCal GGR lime shaft kiln.

The kiln features two shafts, each equipped with twelve conveying lines. One dosing unit supplies every two conveying lines, resulting in a total of six dosing units. The system handles either lignite dust or petroleum coke dust as fuel and achieves a maximum conveying capacity of up to 2,300 kg/h.

An integrated air manifold distributes the conveying air evenly across all twelve conveying lines. At the same time, a velocity monitoring system measures the air flow in every line. Operators can adjust the conveying rate for each line individually to compensate for pressure losses caused by different pipe lengths or routing. This ensures uniform fuel distribution throughout the kiln and supports a stable and efficient combustion process.

The dosing machine complies with the ATEX requirements for operation in Zone 22. As a result, it provides safe and reliable performance in dust-explosion hazardous areas commonly found in the lime industry.
