French lime production company received carbotechnik’s doing system

Conversion of a gas-fired Parallel-Flow Regenerative Kiln to lignite powder or petroleum coke.

The ECL (Européenne des Chaux et Liant) lime plant in France (near Lyon) is part of the “Groupe Saint Hilaire.” Instead of gas, the plant’s existing PFRK kiln will be fired with petroleum coke powder or lignite powder in the future. ECL received technical consulting from FIBAC (part of the Lafarge Group) for this project. Since the plant has only one kiln, special attention was paid to the reliability and availability of the new system.

QualiCal and Carbotechnik carried out this conversion as a joint project. QualiCal handled the conveying system, while Carbotechnik supplied the dosing machine. The dosing machine has 4 dosing discs, each with 2 outlets, and a top-mounted filter. The required amount of dust per cycle is measured using load cells and transported evenly to the shaft furnace within the specified time via the adjustable dosing discs.
