Our dosing system supplies Qualical’s lime shaft kiln at Köhler Kalk
Dosing system for Qualical’s lime shaft kiln
Carbotechnik recently reached another major milestone in Germany by equipping a modern QualiCal-PFRK kiln with a high-precision dosing machine. Specifically, the traditional lime plant KÖHLER KALK GmbH in Meißner ordered this state-of-the-art kiln system, which successfully went into operation in 2016. Consequently, this technical upgrade allows the plant to produce high-quality lime with outstanding thermal efficiency and reliable material processing.
Smart design of the dosing machine
To achieve this, Carbotechnik supplied a highly specialized dosing unit featuring three dosing discs, each equipped with two separate outlets. Furthermore, the engineering team also delivered the complete, custom-engineered conveying air distribution system. To save valuable space, technicians mounted this entire distribution unit directly onto the main dosing machine. As a result, this integrated compact design guaranteed minimal assembly effort and significantly simplified the system installation process on-site.
In addition to the physical distribution system, Carbotechnik optimized the electrical layout for maximum efficiency. Specifically, engineers wired all electrical components—ranging from the safety pressure switches to the powerful dosing disc drives—directly to a single terminal box. Because this box is attached directly to the dosing hopper, the customer benefited from an incredibly fast and straightforward connection to their central control system.
Uncompromising safety and ATEX compliance
Regarding safety, industrial lime production with pulverized fuels naturally demands the highest safety standards. Therefore, Carbotechnik designed all mechanical and electrical components of the dosing machine strictly according to ATEX Zone 22 regulations. Consequently the team installed and wired every single connection to ensure complete explosion protection during daily operations.
Ultimately, this successful project completion shows how modern German engineering can optimize traditional lime manufacturing. By choosing Carbotechnik’s advanced technology, KÖHLER KALK GmbH successfully secured a highly reliable, energy-efficient, and safe future for their plant operations in Meißner.
