Carbotechnik products for drying gypsum stone in Hundelshausen

VG-Orth GmbH is a company with over 125 years of experience in industrial gypsum production. Its successful Multigips brand is used in both drywall construction and in construction projects involving gypsum dry mortars. A hot gas generator, including lignite powder dosing and conveying systems, was delivered to the plant in Hundelshausen. This burner is used to heat (calcine) gypsum rock. During this process, crystal water is removed from the gypsum rock, which can be reabsorbed when the final product is mixed with water (setting). For this purpose, the burner is operated at a capacity of 0.8 MW – 4.0 MW (natural gas) or 1.6 MW – 4.0 MW (lignite powder). The hot gas temperature typically ranges from 600°C to 700°C.

Our scope of supply includes

– 1 DN 1300 dosing unit with two supply outlets,
– 1 hot gas generator including measurement and control system,
– 1 measurement and control system for natural gas operation,
– control cabinets for control, regulation, and data analysis, visualization in the control room and on-site

Since the customer had experienced difficulties in the past with the lignite dust supply to an existing burner, this burner was integrated into our dosing system. The interface to the lignite dust supply for this burner was implemented as part of the overall contract.

Commissioning and optimization of the entire plant, including connection to the third-party burner, were completed in just 2 weeks.
