Carbotechnik’s dosing machine operates in Portugal
Dosing machine for parallel-flow regenerative kiln in Portugal
Carbotechnik recently delivered a modern dosing machine, including an advanced conveying air control system, to the Lusical lime plant in Portugal. As a member of the renowned Lhoist Group, this customer required a highly efficient solution. Therefore, Carbotechnik designed a system that divides the conveying air into 12 distinct streams. For the first time, engineers installed this complex distribution system directly on the main dosing machine and fully wired it beforehand.
Advanced design and easy installation
Regarding the technical layout, the conveying air duct and the cable tray run in a ring around the central unit. Specifically, small branches lead from this ring directly to the individual dosing units. Consequently, the customer only had to install the cable tray from the dosing machine to the local control cabinet. Furthermore, technicians only needed to terminate the loose cable ends inside their own cabinet.
In addition to this setup, a high-performance blower supplies the necessary conveying air. Since Carbotechnik also supplied this blower, all components match perfectly. As a result, this complete package reduces the installation effort for the customer to an absolute minimum and makes the overall project costs much easier to calculate.
Precise control for optimal kiln firing
Ultimately, the control of the conveying air in the individual lines works fully automatically. To achieve this, the system utilizes pneumatic positioners, using either air speed or volume as the main control variable. Therefore, the operators in the control room can respond at any time to changes inside the lime shaft kiln. In conclusion, this precise flexibility allows the plant to achieve optimal firing results with maximum energy efficiency.
