Firing for granulated slag dryers in Wiesbaden
A Quick Overview of the Project
Lignite Dust for the Slag Dryer at Dyckerhoff
Lignite dust for slag dryers provides an alternative solution for industrial heat generation. At its Amöneburg site, Dyckerhoff produces Portland cement from limestone and is the only manufacturer of white cement clinker in Germany.
Since 2004, Dyckerhoff has been part of the Italian Buzzi Unicem Group. In Germany, the company operates seven cement plants, more than 135 ready-mix concrete plants and three gravel plants.
Conversion of the Slag Dryer to Lignite Dust
At the Amöneburg site, the firing system of a slag dryer was converted from natural gas to lignite dust. As a result, the plant gained a new solution for supplying fuel to the industrial drying process.
Carbotechnik supplied the main components for the new firing system. These components include a hot gas generator, a silo system and a high-performance dosing system.
120 m³ Silo for Lignite Dust
For fuel storage, Carbotechnik installed a 120 m³ silo system. The silo stores the required lignite dust for the downstream dosing and firing technology.
In addition, the coordinated equipment ensures a continuous material flow. Therefore, the slag dryer receives a reliable supply of the required fuel.
Dosing System with 945 kg/h Capacity
Another important part of the project is the lignite dust dosing system. It provides a maximum conveying capacity of 945 kg/h.
The dosing system supplies the fuel to the hot gas generator in a controlled manner. As a result, the fuel supply can be precisely adjusted to the heat demand of the dryer.
Furthermore, the silo, dosing system and hot gas generator work together as a coordinated system. This creates a reliable solution for the new dryer firing system.
Hot Gas Generator for the Slag Dryer
Carbotechnik also supplied a hot gas generator for the new firing system. The generator provides the heat required for the drying process.
The combination of hot gas generator, silo system and dosing technology creates an integrated fuel supply for the slag dryer.
In addition, Carbotechnik carried out the required steelwork and metal construction. This allowed the company to integrate the new equipment into the existing plant infrastructure.
Carbotechnik Fuel and Dosing Technology for Cement Plants
The Dyckerhoff project in Amöneburg demonstrates the possibilities of converting a natural gas-fired dryer to lignite dust in an industrial drying process.
Carbotechnik supplied and integrated key components for the fuel supply system:
- Hot gas generator
- 120 m³ silo system
- Dosing system with up to 945 kg/h capacity
- Fuel handling and dosing technology
- Required steelwork and metal construction
- Integration into the existing plant
Therefore, Carbotechnik provides coordinated solutions for the reliable supply of lignite dust to industrial slag dryers.
