Pre-engineering for Northern Star (Russia)

The project requires 10.35 MW of electrical power for hard coal mining on Russia’s Taymyr Peninsula. For this reason, the Moscow-based company Northern Star LLC commissioned CARBOTECHNIK Energiesysteme GmbH to perform the preliminary engineering. Together, we are planning a reliable power supply for this challenging site.

Reliable steam and power generation by CARBOTECHNIK

Using the proven CARBOTECHNIK burner system, four pulverized coal-fired boilers will generate the required steam. This steam will then drive three condensing turbines to continuously generate electrical energy. In addition, three CARBOTECHNIK dosing machines ensure precise and reliable fuel feeding.

Detailed scope of work for the project

Specifically, CARBOTECHNIK’s preliminary engineering includes the following tasks:

  • preparation of detailed overview drawings for the entire plant

  • precise definition of all technical details

  • preparation of complete equipment lists for all plant components

Overview of key plant components

The planned power plant concept integrates the following high-performance components:

  • 3 × CARBOTECHNIK dosing machines (Type DN 1800)

  • 4 × fire-tube boiler systems with CARBOTECHNIK burner systems for saturated steam generation

  • integrated economizers and feedwater treatment for maximum efficiency

  • 3 × condensing turbines for reliable power generation

 Key data
