VDI Conference: thermal sewage sludge treatment solutions
Phosphorus Recovery Congress: Carbotechnik announces lecture
Thermal sewage sludge treatment at the 2019 VDI Conference
From September 17 to 19, 2019, Mainz hosted the 10th VDI Conference on “Sewage Sludge Treatment.” Indeed, experts from industry, research, and local governments gathered at this key event. Specifically, they focused on current legal requirements and innovative technologies for mechanical and thermal sludge treatment. In addition, the conference provided an excellent platform to discuss sustainable concepts for resource recovery.
Focus on thermal recovery and phosphorus recycling
Indeed, the event placed a particular emphasis on thermal sewage sludge recovery and phosphorus recycling. Operators can recover this valuable raw material from sludge water, dewatered sludge, or sewage sludge ash. Consequently, this process opens up new opportunities to conserve natural resources. At the same time, it helps companies implement the principles of the circular economy. Therefore, cost-effective phosphorus recovery processes are becoming increasingly important for wastewater treatment plant operators.
Carbotechnik presents innovative technology
At the conference, Carbotechnik presented an innovative system for thermal sewage sludge treatment. During a technical presentation, our experts explained the process, its technical features, and the benefits for municipal and industrial facilities. Furthermore, numerous visitors took advantage of the accompanying trade exhibition. There, they discussed our system and its potential applications directly with our team.
Our solution generated particular interest because it allows operators to run even smaller wastewater treatment plants highly cost-effectively. In addition, the high quality of the resulting sewage sludge ash served as a key selling point. Under suitable conditions, this ash fully meets the strict requirements of the German Fertilizer Products Ordinance (DüMV). As a result, the ash is highly suitable as a feedstock for phosphorus recovery. Thus, the process supports both sustainable sewage sludge treatment and the efficient use of valuable raw materials.
A strong contribution to the circular economy
The highly positive response at the VDI conference confirmed the growing need for innovative solutions. Ultimately, our system makes an important contribution to a resource-conserving circular economy. Moreover, we actively help wastewater treatment plant operators meet future regulatory requirements in an economical and sustainable manner.
