Phosphorus (P) is a non-substitutable component in all living organisms and is used as a fertiliser in agriculture. Phosphate ore
is limited and increasingly polluted in the world. Phosphorus has been placed by the EU on the list of critical raw materials in 2014.
Recycling from sewage sludge plays an important role and the legal framework has been created.
The aim of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is to promote innovative and economic solutions for a regional phosphorus recycling scheme (RePhoR).
The concept developed with the association partners convinced the jury. From 43 submitted proposals, 7 projects were approved.
The main objective of the "DreiSATS" joint project is the practical testing and demonstration of an innovative economically and technically viable process chain for decentralised thermal sewage sludge recycling with phosphorus recycling and product recycling.
